Is it fair to get laid off..?

Question: Is it fair to get laid off..?

(Posted by: lala♥ on 2010-02-15 11:08:32)

So, is it fair to be working at a place for 19 years and never miss a day of work and doing always your best. And one day you just get laid off...but there are plenty more who are not the best workers...then you find out that more people get laid that are the same race as you....What should this person do?...should they sue the company? They didnt even get anything for working there so long just your un used vacation :(

Is it fair? No... But does it happen.. Yes and quite often. If you feel that there are grounds for discrimination then I would consult an attorney. But, I know it tough, but try to take this as a learning experience and something grow from. You might be able to find something you enjoy more and maybe make more money...... I was 2 weeks away from signing an NHL (Hockey) contract and my hip collapsed on me and my playing days are over. But, i actually have found something I truley enjoy and am happy to do.. It all takes time to see the clear picture.

If it really seems like widespread racial discrimination, then you should contact a lawyer.

Unfortunately, that's how layoffs work everywhere. Everyone thinks that there's someone else who should have been laid off before them. Everyone thinks that the employer should give them a handful of cash when they leave (they're laying people off because they don't have the money to pay your wage). It is your responsibility to make sure that you have the financial saving prepared in the event you lose your job.

It is all about cutting costs.
