How to find a job in it related field with a degree?

Question: How to find a job in it related field with a degree?

(Posted by: lenny on 2010-02-02 08:40:27)

I graduated two years ago with major in IT and minor in Management Information Systems. It seems very difficult finding a job with no direct work experience, since I haven't. I am interested in the fields of networking and databases. Currently I am about take my Network+ exam, then hopefully Cisco (CCNA) after that. I would really like to find a job soon but I figured if I can't, I might as well advance my knowledge and credentials while I am waiting.... Does anyone have any recommendations on finding an entry level job?? Do you think certs will help me??? Any others that you recommend??

Any certifications will help you. Now is a very tough time to be job hunting. Many experienced IT personnel are unemployed. Dice is the place where many IT types look for work. Monster & Careerbuilder are also good job sites.

Don't have an answer for you, but I'm in the same boat. Just graduated with a BS in Information Systems Management, and a minor in Business Management, and I'm looking, too. I am considering getting certified as a Certified Ethical Hacker. I don't know if certifications will help in the job search.
